How to Install & Connect to VPN & Access Remote Desktop

Please follow the steps below to use the SonicWall NetExtender to connect to your computer remotely.

Requirements for Setup
- Computer with Internet Access
- Your VPN Username & Password
- Your Computer Name & Your Computer Username & Password

Instructions

  1. To begin you must install the SonicWall NetExtender software on your computer.
    *If you already have the NetExtender installed, please skip to step #6.
  2. Using your browser visit https://www.sonicwall.com/products/remote-access/vpn-clients/
  3. Choose "Windows 64 bit" for the version and click the download button.

  4. One the file has downloaded run the file to begin the installer.
  5. Install the application using the default settings.
  6. Once the Net Extender application is running you will be presented with the following fields:
    1. Server: vpn.jordanmanufacturing.com:4433
      1. Backup Server: vpn2.jordanmanufacturing.com:4433
    2. Username - Use your VPN Username
    3. Password - Use your VPN Password
      1. If you are missing your VPN username and/or password reach out to IT to obtain this information.
    4. Domain: JORDAN

  7. Now Click the Connect button and enter your 2FA Code (MFA) to finalize the login process.
    1. If you are presented with a Security Alert, click "Always Trust".

  8. Once connected you should see the following.

  9. Now you can begin accessing network shares. If you need to use applications such as Macola, WiSys, or Crystal then you need to open the "Remote Desktop" application on your computer. 
    1. For Windows 10 you can simply click on the start button and type "remote" to search for the application.

    2. Click to open "Remote Desktop Connection"

  10. Once remote desktop is opened type your computer name in the "computer" field. This was given to you when your VPN account was setup. If you do not have this information, please reach out to IT to obtain it.

  11. Click Connect
  12. The first time you connect you will likely need to click on "More choices".
    1. Then click "Use a different account".
    2. For the Username field use the same username to access your computer preceded with "JORDAN\" Example: JORDAN\yourusername
    3. For the password enter the same password used to access your computer.

  13. Click OK to connect to your computer.
    1. If you are presented with a warning, click "Do not ask me again for connections to this computer" and click Yes.

  14. You should now be connected to your computer.

Notes

- After the first connection is complete you will not be required to choose "Use a different account" on the remote desktop application. It will remember your last computer name & the username.

- You must open and connect to the NetExtender application before trying to connect to your computer via remote desktop connection each time!
